Stream Check

Never get
caught off air.

Stream Check is the pre-flight surveyor and live watchdog for on-location broadcasts. Prove the venue’s network before the doors open — then catch dead air, silence, and a dropped uplink the instant they happen.

01 · Pre-flight survey

Will the stream get out?

The whole survey runs in parallel and reports like a broadcast rundown: green tally, it's open; red, it's blocked.

The watchdog that screams.** silently, of course

Four channels watched at once: video, audio, detail, uplink. When one goes bad, the whole screen strobes so nobody misses it.

VIDEO

Frozen or black frames caught from on-screen motion and luma: the picture nobody at FOH is looking at.

AUDIO

Silence detection with a live dB meter and a level history: the receipt for "it was quiet."

DETAIL & UPLINK

A soft-picture / bitrate-collapse read, plus a heartbeat on this Mac's own connection.

AFTER THE SHOW

A one-click incident report: every alarm, its duration, the audio receipt, and a snapshot of exactly what aired when it fired.

Optional · Restream

Pinpoint the break.

Purely additive. Everything else works without it. Connect a Restream account and Stream Check reads the real upstream numbers, so a dead stream names a culprit instead of a mystery.

The local monitor catches the break on this Mac. Restream tells you which side of the chain it’s on. Stream Check taps Restream’s real-time telemetry socket and follows the program from the field encoder all the way out to every destination.

INCOMING

Feed → Restream

The live ingest arriving from the field encoder: total, video, and audio bitrate, frame rate, packet loss, resolution, and codec.

Bitrate collapses or loss spikes and the break is your feed: the venue, the uplink, or the encoder, before Restream ever sees it.

OUTGOING

Restream → platforms

Per destination, the delivery status (CONNECTED, CONNECTING, or DISCONNECTED) plus outbound bitrate and buffer.

Incoming stays clean but a channel won’t hold and the break is Restream or its hop to that platform, not you.

STATUS

On each platform

What the platform reports back on its own: online state and live viewer count, resolved to real channel names like YouTube and Twitch.

One channel drops while the rest keep delivering and the break is that platform. The show stays live everywhere else.

On connect, Restream replays the last minute, then streams live. Reads incoming bitrate · fps · loss · resolution · codec, per-destination CONNECTED / DISCONNECTED status · bitrate · buffer, and each platform’s online state · viewer count. Your Restream credentials never ship inside the app. The OAuth exchange runs server-side on our broker.
What it checks

The real endpoints.

A curated list for the stable platforms, plus a paste-URL field for the dynamic ones: TikTok, LinkedIn, and client custom ingest.

The speed test

Not Ookla. On purpose.

ISPs prioritize traffic to the speed-test sites everyone recognizes, so those numbers read high and mean nothing at a venue. Stream Check measures against neutral endpoints the ISP has no reason to favor: the honest number.

01
Measure upload, not download
Live streaming is upstream-bound: upload throughput is the headline.
02
Saturate, then hold
Several parallel streams for ~10s; report peak sustained Mbps, not the burst.
03
Report jitter & loss too
A stable 15 Mbps up beats a spiky 50. Those kill a stream long before raw bandwidth does.
Why native

A browser can’t do this.

A successful connect to live.twitch.tv:1935 literally proves this network lets your stream reach Twitch. No probe server. No guessing.

RAW SOCKETS

Browsers only speak HTTP(S) and WebSocket. Stream Check opens the real TCP and UDP sockets a broadcast encoder uses.

ANY PORT

Browsers hard-block RTMP’s 1935 and dozens of others as "unsafe." A native app probes exactly the ports your show will use.

REAL DESTINATIONS

It reaches the actual platform ingest, so it catches venues that allowlist by destination, exactly where you get burned.
